Hard to believe it is 2010... I mean TWENTY TEN!? and in a few months the daffodils and tulips will be up and blooming and we'll be enjoying warm weather again. In the meantime, curl up by the fire with some hot cocoa and a stack of seed catalogs!

Our Gang!

There are two seasonal diversions that can ease the bite of any winter. One is the January thaw.  The other is the seed catalogues.
Hal Borland

January is named after the Roman god Janus, who was always shown as having two heads.  He looked back to the last year and forward to the new one.  The Roman New Year festival was called the Calends, and people decorated their homes and gave each other gifts.New Year's Day

It is deep January.
The sky is hard.
The stalks are firmly rooted in ice.
Wallace Stevens,  No Possum, No Sop, No Taters

The twelve months...
