For a good laugh: Read a conversation between God And St. Francis called God and Lawns

"When I am overwhelmed and stressed
and simply unable to think,
I go out and work in my garden,
it’s cheaper than a shrink. "

Be sure to check Walter Reeve's wonderful website at http://www.walterreeves.com for more suggestions on getting ready for winter.

Now is the time to clean up and get your tools ready for storage. Wash off the mud and dirt and put a thin layer of oil over the metal surfaces.

These crinum are still blooming in the garden

Please check the Today Page for current events

Remember to search your garden for ornaments that cannot withstand freezing. The temperatures are ready to plunge! Bring in all tender perennials also, being sure to remove any unwanted visitors!

Tulip and daffodils, crocus and lilies should be in the ground, or at least planted as soon as you can. We all know that the welcome spectacle of spring beauty requires a lot of work in the dirt.

Last night, there came a frost, which has done great damage to my garden.... It is sad that Nature will play such tricks on us poor mortals, inviting us with sunny smiles to confide in her, and then, when we are entirely within her power, striking us to the heart.  ~Nathaniel Hawthorne, The American Notebooks
